It is unlikely that the Regulations will attract much attention from the public. The long lapse of time between this and the last fee revisions may

may generate some adverse comments. Some small scale animal traders are likely to experience difficulties in absorbing the increase and may win some support if they appeal for public sympathy.

A press release will be issued by the Director of Agriculture and Fisheries to announce the increases in fees. It will be emphasised therein that the fees were last set more than a decade ago.

Members will be asked to advise, under section 3 of the Public Health (Animals and Birds) Ordinance (Chapter 139),
