Members will be asked to advise whether :
(a) the principles of the system of the payment of allowances and stipends to Members of the Legislative Council should remain unchanged;
(b)
and
subject to the provision of the necessary funds by the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council, the ceiling of the monthly stipend which may be claimed by Unofficial Members of the Legislative Council should be increased from $8,500 to
to $9,000, with effect from the commencement of the next Legislative Council session in October 1986.
Members will be asked to note the reason given in paragraph 7 for the identical ceiling of allowances for UMELCO Members and for Members of the Urban and Regional Councils.
