Mr Peter Williams, CBE

Aged 59. Joined the civil service in February

1953 as a Cadet Officer Class II and rose through a

series of promotions to the rank of Administrative

Officer Staff Grade A in August 1975. He retired

from the civil service in August 1978.

During 1979

and 1980, he served as Secretary-General of the Standing

Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of

Service and was then Commissioner of the Independent

Commission Against Corruption from 1980 to the end of

1984. He was re-appointed to his present rank of

Secretary, Government Secretariat in January 1985

and since then has been the Secretary (General Duties).

Mr Barrie Wiggham, JP

Aged 49.

Joined the civil service in

September 1961 as an Administrative Officer and was

promoted to his present rank of Administrative Officer

Staff Grade A in September 1985. He has served in

a number of departments and branches including the

Urban Services Department, the then Commerce & Industry

Department, the Economic Branch and the Finance Branch.

More recently, he was Deputy Secretary, New Territories

Administration from 1974 to 1976, Deputy Secretary of

the Home Affairs and Information Branch from 1976 to 1979

and Commissioner for Recreation and Culture from 1979 to

1983. He has been in his present post of Regional

Secretary (Hong Kong and Kowloon) since September 1983.
