(2) For the purposes of this section

a magistrate may, on the application of

the Commissioner or on an appeal referred

to in subsection (1) -

(a) take the recognizance of the

holder, for such amount as may

be specified by the magistrate,

to appear on such day and at

such time and place as may be

specified by the magistrate (at

which time and place the holder

may also be required by conditions

imposed under section 17B to

surrender his travel document);

(b)

take the recognizance of such

sureties (if any) of the holder

as may be required by the

magistrate in such amount as

he may specify;

(c) require that such sum of money

as he may specify be deposited

with him or with such other

person as he may direct, by the

holder or a surety or by both

the holder and a surety;
