As we said in our reply to the Home Officers Committee's report on
Refugee matters, the Government are prepared to consider accepting
further limited numbers of Vietnamese refugees from Hong Kong.

What assistance is given to Vietnamese refugees in the UK
There are about 19,000 Vietnamese in the UK. Her Majesty's Government funds a programme employing 17 refugee agency workers at an overall cost in the current year of £260,000. Following a Home Affairs
Select Committee report earlier this year the programme is being
expanded to 24 workers.
