What Hope For The Future?

Hong Kong appeals to the world

To give up the motherland, family and friends and to risk your life on a highly dangerous trip in a small boat across the South China Sea requires determination and courage. Hong Kong, which is too overcrowded to offer any further welcome, can only reward that courage by an indefinite period in Chimawan. Is there no room elsewhere for these people, penalised by a situation not of their making? Can the free countries of the world not find the extra space for people who valued freedom so much that they risked their lives to attain it? The Vietnamese refugees at Chimawan wait for an answer.
