The PUS raised the subject of/Vietnamese

problem with M. Ross at their meeting on 30 Oct.

He undertook to provide details of refugees in the

XRX camps in Hong Kong who have close family

connections in France, to enable the French to

consider whether they could be accepted for resetti

ment. The Hong Kong Govt. have informed us at tha

about 70 of the refugees have close family ties in

France, and 44 speak French. It is not yet clear to what extent these 2 categories overlap, but the

HKG are obtaining further details from UNHCR, which

they will then pass to the French Consulate-General
