In
Ralph Griffiths' letter of 1 July to Peter Spiceley enclosed a record of my first call on Cardinal Etchegaray. para 4 I recorded that I would like to pass on to the Cardinal any subsequent good news about Vietnamese refugees in Hong Kong or the U.K. So I was glad to see FCO guidance telegram No.125 about this. I sent Cardinal Etchegaray a memorandum based on paras 2-5 of that telegram, and I also gave a copy of the memo- randum to the Deputy to the Cardinal Secretary of State. I now enclose a copy of Cardinal Etchegaray's reply.
