You will understand our delight at the recommendations of the Home Affairs Committee relating to Vietnamese refugees in Hong Kong. We do hope the Government will be announcing its acceptance of these recommendations as soon as possible, giving particular priority to the two recommendations we have discussed with you in the past, namely the relaxation of family reunion criteria and and the abolition of the closed camps.
If there is any further information we can give you concerning the availability of our member agencies to assist in the implementation of the recommendations, please do not hesitate to let us know. The Asia Committee will be meeting on 6 June when we will discuss these issues in more detail.
