FUTURE OF HONG KONG
Library and Records Department are reluctant to consider printing HMA's despatch in the new Diplomatic Document (DD) series because it is dated November 1984. If we could alter the date, they would be prepared to print the despatch as a DD! Since this is out of the question we could arrange for the despatch to be printed in last years' Diplomatic Report series.

LRD are happy to print the despatch as a Diplomatic Report in last years series and would simply allocate the despatch a 1984 reference number. If we simply wish to correct last years oversight and arrange for the despatch to be printed in the departmental series, then DSP Vol 3 9.6-9.9 explains how this can be done. is of course, a much easier and less costly procedure and I have confirmed with LRD that we could allocate a 1984 reference to the despatch if it is printed in the Departmental series. We could also arrange for the despatch to receive a wide distribution but, not of course,
as wide as the General Distribution HMA would like his despatch to receive.
