I would be grateful for your comments on the attached draft reply based on your

letter.

In particular, I would be grateful for your confirmation of Our understanding that Hong Kong will be introducing a computerised Cfp/mrp in 1988 (see para 3 of draft tel). Para 3(e) of Hong Kong TUR appears to be confused on this point and says that Hong Kong has
no fixed time table for introducing machine-readable passports. Incidentally if we are introducing a cfp/mrp that is computer issued in the United Kingdom, what wil1 happen to passports issued in posts overseas, where presumably they cannot be computer issued?
