POSSIBLE ABOLITION OF SWEDISH AND NORWEGIAN VISA REQUIREMENTS ON HONG KONG BDTCs
1.
Please refer to your letter of 4 July to William Ehrman in Hong Kong Department. I am replying since this Department is responsible for matters connected with visa formalities.
2. I attach copies of letters which have been sent to the Embassies at Stockholm and Oslo. Since the Danish reply to our approach was mildly encouraging we thought the time ripe to include the Norwegians whose position has more in common with the Danes than that of the Swedes.
3. As you will see both cases are rather more complex than that of the Danes. We can only hope that the latter's example will encourage the Nordics to take a reasonable attitude as a whole.
