INSULAT GENERAL DE FRANCE

HONG KONG

GPO BOX 13

N°878

Madam,

REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISI

HONG NG 8th December 1983

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt

of your letter dated November 25th, recalling your previous one

dated July 10th, 1983.

The information given to you by this Consulate

General was accurate, namely, that holders of British passports

do not require a visa for a stay in France not exceeding three

months.

<

It is most unfortunate that you were denied

entry into France and escorted to a flight back to London. I

sincerely regret this most unfortunate incident, but this Consulate

General cannot be held responsible for mistakes committed by

members of the "Police de l'Air et des Frontières". Errors of

the same nature are made in any country by officials in charge

not fully aware of the rules and regulations.

Your case has been brought by this Consulate

General to the attention of the Charles de Gaulle Airport autho-

rities.

With the renewed expression of my sympathy,

I am,

Yours faithfully,

Le Consal Général de Frenos

Mrs. CHAN Ip Yuk Sim
