Dear Sir,
I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 2nd June 1982 concerning the entry into Prance of British Hong-Kong passport holders and Holders of Certificate of Identity from Hong-Kong.
To clarify the matter, I would like to state that British Hong-Kong passport holders do raquire a visa to enter France if they have not the right of abode in the U.K. - which should appear on page 5 of the passport. This regulation has become applicable only few weeks ago.
Holders of Certificate of Identity from Hong-Kong do require a visa to enter France. A visa can be obtained from the Fronoh Consulate General in London within 24 hours if the applicant is permanent resident in Great-Britain. Otherwise the application has to be submitted for approval to the French Consulate General. in Hong-kong and a delay of 4 to 6 weeks is to be expected.
Visitors to London wishing to go to France should apply for a visa to the French Conmulate General in Hong-Kong prior to their departure Should they have to apply -through this Consulate &. delay of 4 to 6 weeka as above will have to be expected.
