Dear Mr Ramsay
MEXICAN VISA REQUIREMENTS ON BDTC
1.
130
Please refer to my letter of 20 August and to our telegrams Visa 19 and 20.
2. I have been asked to modify paragraph 6 of my letter under reference to make it clear that Parliament have in fact approved the creation of the BN(O) status in the Hong Kong Act 1985, and the status will come into effect on 1 July 1987.
3.
You will be briefed in detail at a later stage about BN (0) s but the key points to get across now, in response to questioning, are that:
i)
ii)
BN(0) status will carry with it broadly the same benefits as BDTC status except that it will not be transmissible;
we have every expectation (vide FCO telno 1031) that BN(0) passports will be fully accepted by all countries of the world, as are BDTC passports.
4. You are now free to take the action described in para 7 of my letter under reference.
