1. In his letter of 29 April to Tony Lane, Mr Shepherd asked for copy addressees' comments on the revised version of your paper on China and the GATT. I have only two minor points. In the final sentence of paragraph 6, I should be grateful if you could delete "fairly". And in the first sentence of paragraph 9, I should prefer "impossible" to "jeopardised" (although this is really
a point for HKD, to whom I would of course defer if they disagreed).
