and if the Secretary of State and the Governor are unable to agree

on the Secretary of State's continuing need to retain the said land

or unused part thereof for the said purposes the same shall revert

to the Colonial Government upon such date as shall be agreed between

the parties and the Secretary of State shall thereupon be entitled to

compensation as provided in clause 6.

8.

In the event of the said land or any part thereof being

required for a public purpose, then upon reasonable notice in writing

of such requirement being given by the Colonial Government to the

Secretary of State the said land or part thereof required shall revert

to the Colonial Government, provided the Governor shall if so required

by the Secretary of State first appropriate for the use of the

Secretary of State for the said purposes such other piece of land

suitable for the said purposes as the Governor is willing to appropriate

and the Secretary of State willing to accept, and provide thercon to

the satisfaction of the Secretary of State at the cost of the

Colonial Government works buildings and installations similar or

on a similar scale to those that were in existence on the land reverting

to the Colonial Government at the date of the notice of requirement.

Any notice required to be given hereunder to the Secretary

of State may be given to the Commander, British Forces, Hong Kong,

on his behalf.
