HK Economic Journal: It is reasonable and appropriate for
right-wing people to take the opportunity to make clear their stand on the BLCC.
Publisher of the HK Times Eddie Tsang: He will not join the BLCC because it is merely a hand-raising machine.
Newly-elected Legco member Pang Chun-hoi: He will not join the BLCC. Right-wingers in HK can express their views on the Basic Law through many other channels.
(report) Newly-elected Legco member Martin Lee: It will be within Legco's constitutional power for members to discuss the Basic Law and express their views without debating it as a piece of legislation. But whether Legco can discuss the Basic Law and whether there is a need for Legco
to discuss the Basic Law are two different questions. If the
majority of members do not feel the need, the Basic Law should not be discussed in Legco.
