(report) An unnamed BLDC member: Media people should not sit on the BLCC so as to ensure the
objectivity in news reporting and in acting as an independent watchdog.
BLDC member Maria Tam: The BLCC should set up a five-member group within the committee comprising a judge, a lawyer, a statistician, a Chinese language expert and a representative from the news media, to monitor the work of the BLCC secretariat. The work of the BLCC should be kept confidential because some people may be reluctant to voice their views frankly if their identity is to be revealed. The inclusion of media representative in the BLCC would do no harm as the media play an
important role in HK.
