NCNA's HK director Xu Jiatun: Membership of the Basic Law drafting committee, which will include HK residents as its deputy directors, will be announced in
mid-June after the NPC Standing Committee meeting. The membership of the consultative
committee will be announced at a later
date.
* Chinese State Councillor and HK and Macau Affairs Office Director Ji Pengfei: The Basic Law should include a provision stipulating that equal importance will be attached to both the Chinese and English languages in the future.
HK Daily News: There will be contradictions between the Chinese Constitution and the Basic Law. To avoid Contradictions, an annex should be added to the constitution, stating that the HK SAR Basic law is valid and recognised under the Chinese Constitution.
