CPPCC Vice-chairman Fei Xiaotong (meeting with local CPPCC delegates in HK): HK people should take part in Basic Law drafting.

* CPPCC HK delegate Ho Sai-chu: The Basic Law

should not be too

detailed, otherwise there will be little room for manoeuvre. The power to interpret the Basic Law should rest with the

NPC.

* Local CPPCC delegate Xu Ximin (meeting with a CPPCC delegation in HK): China should appoint as many HK representatives as possible to the Basic Law drafting committee.

HK Federation of Trade Unions chairman Poon Kong-wai: The federation will set up a committee to gather local views on Basic Law drafting and to fight for workers' representation on the drafting committee. The federation will compile an opinion paper on the Basic Law by the end of the year.
