a

contribution

My apologies for this late addition, but the need for this contribution has only now come to light. Briefly, because the third 4 year term of the MFA on textiles expires in July 1986, the Hong Kong Government Office/London has written to a wide range of MPS (all Party Groups, Select Committees), Government departments, and industry arguing that the MFA discriminates against developing country producers such as Hong Kong to the benefit not of UK industry but of other industrialised producers in the EEC. Mr Nicholas Winterton MP was reported in the Hong Kong press yesterday as attacking the HKG letter for seeking preferential treatment for Hong Kong producers in the UK, and as hoping to raise the issue in the Foreign Affairs Debate.
