MEETING OF UK COMMANDERS-IN-CHIEF COMMITTEE: 26 NOVEMBER 1985

1.

At the regular biannual meeting of the UK Commanders-in-Chief Committee on Tuesday 26 November, Mr Alston will be asked to give a survey of current ''political topics''.

'political topics''. He will be expected to speak for 20-25 minutes with about 10 minutes or so thereafter for questions. The session will be off the record.

2.

Given the limited time available, it will clearly not be possible for Mr Alston to give more than a very brief overview of the main topics. I should be grateful, however, if Departments could let me have two or three key points to make on the following item(s) which fall(s) to them and which are likely to be of interest to the Commanders-in-Chief, by 3.00 pm Monday

25 November. Background material is not required. It would be helpful if contributions could be kept as short as possible and in a form which Mr Alston can actually use. Due to the very short deadline (for which I apologise), I am willing to take contributions over the telephone if necessary:
