Annex II to the
In accordance with
Sino-British agreement, a Joint Liaison Group has
been established. It will meet at least once a year
in Peking, London and Hong Kong until the year 2000.
From 1 July 1988 it will be based primarily in Hong
Kong. The Group met for the first time in London in
July
The JLG will meet again in Peking from
26 to 29 November.
BASIC LAW

Annex 1 of the Joint Declaration which set out
the detailed policies for the Hong Kong SAR, is to
be enshrined in a Basic Law.
The Chinese have
established a Basic Law Drafting Committee to begin
work on this. The Committee, consisting of 59
members (23 of whom are Hong Kong residents) and
including Sir Y K as one of its Vice-Chairmen me t
for the first time in Peking in May. The Basic Law
is due to be completed by 1990.
