HONG KONG: "MIXED" AND "SEPARATE" BDTCS PERSONS BORN ON OR AFTER 1 JANUARY 1983 AND BEFORE 1 JULY 1997. Notes to accompany Tables A, B, C

Because of the time period involved (1 January 19831 July 1997) it
is assumed that only one generation will be born in that time. Thus
it is assumed that all parents will have been born before 1 January 1983.
(62. Birth in relation to parents should be construed to include registration
or naturalisation where appropriate.
Although
(C) 3. birth alone in Hong Kong (except foundlings) is not

a
"connection" with Hong Kong for the purposes of the Draft Hong Kong
(British Nationality) Order, it is deemed to be a "connection" with
Hong Kong for the purposes (where appropriate) of the attached Tables.
"MIXED" and "SEPARATE" have the meanings given in Mr Emery's note of
23 January 1985 on NTY/85 1337/0/2 viz :
"MIXED" =
A person who is a BDTC by an essential combination of
connections with Hong Kong and another Dependent Territory.
"SEPARATE" = A person who would be a BDTC without his/her connections
with Hong Kong.
Those persons who may be both "MIXED" and "SEPARATE" are referred to
solely as "SEPARATE".
