5. Mixeds/Separates: Miss Veale said that N and TD would be content if the Home Office accepted that there could be separates before 1 January 1983, even if there could not be mixeds. It
was agreed that the order would not require amendment to meet this
should le point, but that the list of categories as amended by Hong Kong's redraft
(para 2 (1) of Hong Kong Telno 1514).

6. Separates applying for BNO status: I am not convinced by Hong Kong's arguments on this point, but if they insist I can see no
purpose in holding out against them, unless we fear parliamentary criticism for being too restrictive. The only Chinese objection I can see is to BNO passports stating that the holder is also a
BDTC.
