2. The provisions of section 12 of the said Act of 1981
(renunciation) shall apply in relation to [British (Overseas) nationals] and the status of a British (Overseas) national as they
apply in relation to British citizens and British citizenship.
3. The provisions of section 40 of the said Act of 1981
(deprivation of British citizenship) shall apply in relation to
Natives,
Nota
[British Overseas nationals; and the status of a [British Overseas
-national as they apply in relation to British citizens and British
citizenship, but as if in subsection (2)(a)(i) the reference to
that Act were a reference to the Hong Kong Act 1985.
4. The said Act of 1981 shall be amended as follows:-
(a)
(b)
in section 4(1) (acquisition by registration: British
Dependent Territories citizens, etc.), for the words
"or a British protected person" there shall be
inserted the words " a British protected person

or a [British (Overseas) national];
in section 37(1) (by virtue of which certain persons
have the status of a Commonwealth citizen), after
paragraph (a) there shall be inserted the following
paragraph
1
" (aa) under the Hong Kong Act 1985 is a [British Now. (Overseas)national]; or";
