SCHEDULE 1
RELEVANT PROVISIONS OF
THE IMMIGRATION ORDINANCE OF HONG KONG
PART 1
DEFINITIONS IN SECTION 2(1)
Hong Kong belonger
"Hong Kong belonger" means a person who--
(a) immediately before 1 January 1983 was--
(i) a British subject who was born in Hong Kong, (ii) a British subject by auturalization in Hong Kong; (ii) a British subject by registration in Hong Kong under section 7(2) of the British Nationality. Act 1948;
(iv) a British subject married or who had been married to, or was a child of, a person mentioned in sub-paragraph (i), (ii) or (iii);
(b) on or after i January 1983 belongs to a class or description
of persons mentioned in the First Schedule,
Associated definitions
"the 1981 Act" means the British Nationality Act 1981;
"British subject by naturalization in Hong Kong", immediately
before 1 January 1983, means-
(a) in relation to a person naturalized after the commencement of the British Nationality Act 1948, a British subject to whom a certificate of naturalization has been granted by the Governor; and
(b) in relation to a person naturalized before the commence-
ment of that Act-
(i) a British subject to whom a certificate of naturaliza- tion was granted by the Government under section 8 of the British Nationality and Status of Aliens Act 1914; and
(ii) British subject who became such by reason of the fact that his name was included under section 5 of the British Nationality and Status of Aliens Act 1914 in a certificate of naturalization granted by the Government,
"child" means a legitimate or legitimated child, a stepchild and a
child adopted in a manner recognized by law;
