British citizenship, but as if in subsection (2)(a)(i) the
reference to that Act were a reference to the Hong Kong Act
(4) The said Act of 1981 shall be amended as follows:-

in section 4(1) (acquisition by registration:

British Dependent Territories citizens, etc.), for
the words "or a British protected person" there shall
be inserted the words " a British protected person
or a British National (Overseas)";
in section 37(1) (by virtue of which certain persons
have the status of a Commonwealth citizen), after
paragraph (a) there shall be inserted the following
paragraph

"(aa) under the Hong Kong (British Nationality)
Order 1985 is a British National (Overseas)
or a British Overseas citizen; or";
in section 42(2)(b) (by virtue of which the oath of
allegiance on registration or naturalisation is not
required to be taken in certain cases), after the
words "British subject," there shall be inserted
the words "a British National (Overseas), ";
(d) in section 50(1), after the definition of "association"

there shall be inserted the following definitions:-
"British National (Overseas)" means a person who
is a British National (Overseas) under the Hong Kong
(British Nationality) Order 1985, and "status of
a British National (Overseas)" shall be construed
accordingly;
