Dear Sirs,

New Territories Circular Road and China Border Access Intersection and Roadworks Alignment through San Tin,

New Territories.

Further to our letters on behalf of our clients, the San Tin Development & Management Co., Ltd. (sponsors of the San Tin Master Plan),, to Mr. H.K. Thomas Ho (Senior Estate Surveyor, Lands Office, Yuen Long) dated 20th May and 7th June 1982. We are extremely concerned regarding current proposals for roadworks through San Tin and the proposed Lok Ma Chau/China Access Intersection located immediately on the eastern edge of San Tin village.

As mentioned in our 20th May letter to Mr. Ho (copy attached), the existing proposed alignment and subsequent intersection positioning will have a serious impact on the existing San Tin village and also on the comprehensive San Tin development plans currently before Government. Current proposals impinge on exist- ing village revitalization and development plans while seriously restricting the target population and environmental quality of the proposed San Tin Rural New Town. Our clients and the villagers object to the abovementioned proposed alignment. (See approximate road and intersection positioning in relation to the existing San Tin village and surrounding village-based. We feel strongly amended as shown outlined in red. that this proposal is workable from an engineering viewpoint (minimizing changes in the existing proposed alignment), while at the same time it reflects the interests of present and future residents within the San Tin watershed.
