7.3 Local Recreation Areas
Neighbourhood recreation areas provide focal orientation at the local residential level, and cater to less specialized, outdoor, active re- creation activities. Provision for facility types is
based on neighbourhood population, proximity to community centres, and economic factors.
These facilities are to occur as natural exten- sions to the open space system, and are to relate to neighbourhood commercial or other central neighbourhood facilities.
7.4 Resort Development

Current demand for tourist accommodation in Hong Kong is likely to continue, and grow. San Tin is uniquely positioned to take advantage of this-for both Hong Kong as well as Mainland Chinese tourist interest especially with regard to rural, historic lineal village, fung shui, and recreation-related aspects. It is proposed, therefore, that a resort serving local as well as foreign tourist needs be established to the north of the main San Tin village, providing a wide range of accommodation and activity types. Site design of this resort would tend toward a "Chinese Resort Village" kind of setting. Facilities would include: swimming pools, tennis & squash courts, archery, pitch & putt golf, health club, etc.. As an important part of this development, the large Town Park lake would be integrated into the site, providing watersport facilities and an attractive lakefront to the Resort, as will be to the old main village of San Tin itself.
