ROYAL VISITS
BACKGROUND

There have been no official royal visits to Hong Kong
since 1982. Both HMG and HKG considered it undesirable for any

following the State Visit to China. The visit was announced
on 14 October.

to undertake an official visit in April in her capacity as
Honororary Commandant of the Royal Hong Kong Police. HRH's
