FORMAT

Unless otherwise indicated, briefs should be in the form of Points to Make (on pink) and Essential Facts (on white). As always, they should be as short as possible, particularly the points to make. Please bear in mind that Mr Luce is already familiar with many of the subjects to be covered. Briefs should be tailored as far as possible to the interlocutor: where appropriate for Folder C subject separate Points to Make should be given for use in each country. They should be laid out on the lines of the attached model, with Brief Numbers left blank. Briefs, in final form, should be sent to SEAD and FED as follows

to Mr Roberts, SEAD to arrive by close of play on Tuesday 3 September
to Mr Ashton, FED to arrive by close of play on Friday 6 September
to Mr Ashton, FED to arrive by close of play on Friday 6 September
cc to Mr Roberts SEAD
Please address any queries to Mr Ashton (233 8192) or Mr Roberts (233 4660). It would be helpful to have early advance warning of any subjects (e.g. possibly Aid to China?) for which important developments are expected between 6 and 15 September and for which it may therefore be sensible to extend the deadline.
