Annual Report of the Hong Kong Productivity Council for the year ended 31st March 1985
Sir,
Among the various papers laid on the table of this Council today is the Annual Report of the Hong Kong Productivity Council for the year ending 31st March 1985.
I am very pleased to report that for the year under reivew, the demand for the Council's services continued to grow. The income derived from fees for services increased by 32%, which for the fourth consecutive year, represents substantial real growth.
There was a sustained demand for the Council's well-established core services. In training, the Council organized 374 courses covering a wide range of specialized

exceeded 8000. In consultancy, the Council undertook 241 assignments assisting both local and overseas companies in either establishing new plants, or expanding and streamlining their manufacturing operations.
In addition to maintaining the momentum of its existing services, the Council expanded the scope of its activities by
Projects taking a more active approach in technology transfer. aimed at serving multiple users' requirements included the development of affordable computer aided design systems and the completion of the first stage of a comprehensive management information system for the garment industry.
During the year,
the Council expanded its support facilities in various surface treatment technologies. There were over 1000 local companies using the Council's support facilities.
