Finally, Section 11(5) of the Ordinance deems an employee's
minimum earnings for the purpose of calculating compensation to be
$600. This figure is based on the level of subsistence allowance for
a single person under the Public Assistance Scheme. It is proposed
to increase this figure to $800 in line with its current equivalent.
Under Section 48A of the Employees' Compensation Ordinance,
levels of compensation may be amended by resolution of the Legislative
Council. An appropriate draft resolution has been prepared.
