Sir, I am/pleased to know that the Education Department refers
and
special cases to Social Welfare Department Special Education
Section. Has Government analysed the reasons for non-attendance
and provided preventive measures ?
Director of Education : Yes, Sir, we have kept very detailed
statistics on the reasons for these non-attendance cases. In
general, I would say that most of the reasons related to the
family and personal particular circumstances, for example, the
family problems of the children concerned and in some cases the
lack of motivation of the children concerned. Te have tried our
very best to assist those families. In particular, igre in fo
Here made home visits by the Social Welfare Department and our officers
concerned and we have done our best to persuade them and to help
them overcome these difficulties including welfare assistance. By
and large we have in fact managed to help many of the families to
overcome these problems and this is why in fact the number of
cases requiring action is so little.
