In view of the growing local interest in the Visual Arcs, will the Government make a statement on:
(a)

wnetner there is a neeg, for visual art education ooth in schools and at toe
tertiary level;
whetner there is a need for art students to de educated at the tertiary level in suçu a way that they can cill Vocationally-oriented posts in arts administration, curatorial work and secondary school teaching?
Visual arts education is being provided in ootn
schools and at the tertiary level.

Arc and Craft and Art and Design are taugnt in schools on the basis coat creative endeavour througn
observation, cactile experience and simple,
practical
tecnniques, is an essential part of education. Ine
syllabuses are designed to cultivate aesthetic
appreciation and develop a pupil's imaginative and
creative powers, through use of a wide variety of materials and techniques, with equal emphasis placed on
the creative process and an appreciation of the finisned
product.
