UMELCO DELEGATION TO LONDON FOR THE DEBATE ON THE HONG KONG BILL
Chung reported on his recent visit to
Sir S.Y.
London with Miss Maria Tam and Mr Peter C. Wong. The
delegation had met a number of Members of Parliament
including Members of the British Hong Kong Parliamentary
Group chaired by Sir Peter Blaker. At their meetings
they had based themselves on the UMELCO position paper,
listing out the points which they would like to see
raised in the debate. They had later been to see the
Minister of State, Mr Luce, and the Secretary of State.
There had been little controversy and a good
understanding of the points
the points they had sought to make.
All these had been accepted.
