The Government announced today the appointment of
Sir Mark Heath as Director of Protocol, in succession to
Sir John Curle who is retiring in June 1985.
Sir Mark Heath, KCVO, CMG, age 58, is a member of
Her Majesty's Diplomatic Service. He first joined the (then)
Foreign Office in 1950 and has since served in various diplomatic
posts, including Jakarta, Copenhagen, Sofia, Ottawa, and OECD (Paris).
Since 1982, he has been HM Ambassador to the Holy See.
