NOTE FOR EXECUTIVE AND LEGISLATIVE COUNCILS
DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
The Clerk of Councils presents his compliments to Members and is directed to inform them of the arrangements that have been made for the recording and declaration of Members' interests.
2.
The agreed procedure is that Members of the Executive Council declare an interest in subjects placed before the Council. A note on this procedure is enclosed for the benefit of Members of the Executive Council (Enclosures 1 and 2).

The procedure is that Members of the Legislative Council declare their interests before moving a motion or amendment or speaking or voting. The rules are set out in Standing Order No 65 of the Council (Enclosure 3). Guidance to help Members decide whether they have such an interest is enclosed (Enclosure 4).

As an additional

remunerated employments or offices; and
remunerated trades, professions or vocations.
This list, copies of which will be kept by the Clerk of Councils, the Clerk
Clerk of the Legislative Council and the Secretary-General/UMELCO will assist the Clerk of Councils to anticipate where conflicts of interest might arise and in the planning of the distribution of Legislative Council business generally. The list will be made available to any Member of the public or of the press who wishes to inspect
it.

Accordingly Members are invited to declare their categories by completing the returning it to the Clerk by on Wednesday 30 October 1985. Arrangements will be made to update this list annually. Members are requested to report any change in the interim as soon as possible after this occurs.
