TOWARDS THE FUTURE

British responsibilities

Since Britain agreed that Hong Kong will return to China in 1997, it is too often assumed that we have no further responsibilities towards the territory and its people.

Challenging this view, Hong Kong Link argues in this document that the coming decade will be the most important in Hong Kong's history. Britain must grant real political autonomy to Hong Kong's people well before 1997, in the spirit of the Anglo-Chinese Agreement.
