Opening of the Legislative Council Building

and of the 1985/86 Legislative Session

A Government spokesman today announced

for the opening of the new Legislative

Council Building and the opening of the 1985/86

Legislative Session.

With effect from 30 October the Legislative

Council Chamber will be housed in the former

former Supreme

Court Building in Jackson Road which will be known as

the Legislative Council Building. The opening for the

building in its new role by the Governor will take place

on the Piazza to the west of the building at 4.15 p.m.

Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Mr R.T. Renton, MP; the

Chief Justice, Sir Denys Roberts; and Members and

immediate past Members of the Executive and Legislative

Councils. The Governor will unveil a commemorative

plaque and the Chief Justice will unveil a plaque giving

brief history of the building. There will be
