Private Office are content, but would like to see the article before it goes for publication. The editor told me this afternoon that he could take up to 1300 words if we wished; a 1000 word article would leave space for a picture of the Minister (or of a Chinese junk!).
(i) Registration. You hoped this would not come up during the debate, or be raised by UMELCO during their visit. The need for BDTCs to register for the new nationality status could be wrapped up with arrangements for issuing passports.
(j) Prime Minister's Visit to Peking. Mr Luce agreed that
it might not be wise to press for the Guangdong power station negotiations to be brought to a conclusion in time for the Prime Minister's visit; nor did it seem right for the Prime Minister to travel to China accompanied by a group of British businessmen.
