As I told you
I much enjoyed our talk last week.
then, I really am most grateful to you for taking on the
task of Monitor in connection with the assessment of
opinion in Hong Kong about the Agreement with China.
The Report you produced was, if I may so, a model of
clarity and precision. I know that Parliament will
attach considerable importance to your view that the
Assessment Office conducted its work impartially, and
discharged its duties properly.
The work of the Assessment Office, and your own monitoring task, have made an important contribution to
Parliament's consideration of this vital subject. Please
pass on my thanks to the College authorities for agreeing to your absence to undertake this task at a very difficult
time at the start of the academic year.
