college who have to go through a relatively competitive process in order to get elected to
Legislative Council.
A common theme of public connents was the call for more seats in the Legislative Council to be designated for functional constituencies, if the proposal in the Green Paper was accepted. Some suggestions on the designation of functional constituencies have been made for example by the Chairman of Urban Council, and the HK Affairs Society. Broadly, they suggested the inclusion of the following classifications :-
educationists
finance and banking

trade and industry
(d) legal
(e)
medical

labour and trade unions
