CONTINUITY OF PRIVATE ENTERPRISE, BUSINESS AND TRADE?
61. Agreement provides for the continuation of the free enterprise system, free trade policies, and the free port status of Hong Kong. These are some of the essential features of Hong Kong's consistent and successful economic policies.
HONG KONG'S STATUS WITHIN GATT, MFA AND OTHER PREFERENTIAL TRADE
ARRANGEMENTS?

Hong Kong plays important role in GATT and MFA. Agreement allows Hong Kong's continued participation in GATT and MFA. Provides also that Hong Kong SAR will have status of a separate
customs territory.
EFFECT OF THE AGREEMENT ON HONG KONG'S TEXTILE QUOTAS?
63. Hong Kong SAR will be a separate customs territory. Export quotas, tariff preferences and other similar arrangements obtained by the SAR shall be enjoyed exclusively by it.
PROTECTION OF PROPERTY RIGHTS?
64.
Agreement makes clear that rights concerning the ownership of
property will continue to be protected by law, and that proper
compensation will be paid in the event of any lawful expropriation.
WILL HONG KONG BE ABLE TO IMPORT HIGH TECHNOLOGY GOODS ON COCOM
LIST?
65. This will be a matter for COCOM Governments to decide. The
agreement provides for considerable autonomy for the SAR in the
field of foreign trade.
