57. Agreement makes clear that the SAR Government will be served by impartial, effective and stable public service which is a feature of
Hong Kong today. Evident however that when Hong Kong become s a Special Administrative Region of the PRC, certain features of current policy for the public service, eg requirement for administrative officers to be British nationals will no longer be
appropriate.

58. Agreement makes clear that officers serving in the RHKP may remain in employment and continue their service in the SAR with pay, allowances and conditions of service no less favourable than before.
