Das Si Daril,
I have been asked to pass on to you the following message from Sir Edward Youde in Hong Kong:
"The Parliamentary debate on Hong Kong is now likely to take place in the week beginning December 3 and I shall need to be in London that week returning to Hong Kong first thing on Saturday morning, December 8.
But Pam will be here and you would still be very welcome to stay at Government House. I will be back for the racing on Saturday before leaving again for Japan on Sunday.
We had been planning to arrange a lunch for Friday 7 December to which we could invite your Hong Kong friends. Again we would be very glad to go ahead with this if you would like, but would understand if it conflicted with more serious pursuits such as playing golf. There is no great hurry but perhaps you would let us know what you would like through the Hong Kong Department, together with the names of any guests you would like included.
I am looking forward to seeing you again. I think you will find Hong Kong in remarkably good heart on this visit".
Please let us know if you would like to transmit your reply to the Governor.
