BUSINESS STATEMENT : 10 MAY: HONG KONG : FALKLANDS : SOUTH AFRICA

After the Business Statement on 10 May Mr Kinnock asked that the time for the debate on Hong Kong set for Wednesday 16 May should be extended to midnight. Mr Biffen thought it would be appropriate

2. Mr Tam Dalyell asked that the Prime Minister should substantiate or withdraw her media comments about an unnamed member and intelligence at the beginning of the Falklands war. Mr Biffen made a suitable reply.

Mr John Carlisle sought a debate on Southern Africa in view of the impending visit of Mr Botha. In his reply Mr Biffen said that there was no government time next week or immediately thereafter.

Mr Campbell-Savours took the view that there had been cover-ups on Belgrano, Oman and the Libyan Embassy siege. He sought enquiries. Mr Biffen made a suitable response.
