MINISTERIAL INVOLVEMENT IN THE TALKS
Ministers continue to take a close interest in the talks. The
Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary summed up their progress during
his talks in Peking and gave them a new impetus. There are however
no plans at the moment for Ministers to participate in the actual
rounds of negotiations. But the possibility cannot be ruled out if we consider it desirable at an appropriate time.
